Thank you so much to those parents who drove today.  The play, "Androcles and the Lion" was very well done.  We particularly enjoyed the sound effects.

This morning 5th Graders attacked new SAT words (asylum, arid, aesthetic, amiable, and another one!).  4th Graders continued their Root Word packets.  Spelling and Ben Franklin quotes, then off to the play.

This afternoon we did Global Scholar testing for 50 minutes.  Two computers gave us grief, but many students completed tests.  These tests are being compared to the national norm.  We teachers use them to drive curriculum so children are being challenged.

After a brief recess, we learned about the storm before the calm of what was to become the Boston Tea Party.  We learned that Samuel Adams and a lot more American philosophers were communicating effectively to help the American colonists grasp the new idea of independence.  The king was "in his counting house", so to say.  He thought everything was quiet and happy at home in America.  Parliament decided that Americans were quiet, so they must have submitted to the idea of England governing them from afar.  We used the analogy of children and parents.  It was time for the children to leave home and become independent.  FOR HOMEWORK STUDENTS SHOULD SHOW THE QUOTE BY SAM ADAMS TO PARENTS AND/OR NEIGHBORS AND WRITE THE ANSWERS  ON THE BACK OF THE PICTURE.  Tomorrow we will share the responses and students will turn the quotes into puzzles.  We are putting the pieces of the American Revolution together.

THERE WAS NO MATH TODAY BECAUSE OF THE PLAY...SO NO MATH HOMEWORK.  SORRY!!!
